1U has a long-standing relationship with New Image Youth Center through Share the Plate, special events, and a highly successful donation drives.  The goal of the Friends of New Image Youth Center is to broaden and deepen that relationship and provide ongoing support for the Center.

The mission of the New Image Youth Center is “to provide a safe place to dream that fosters academic, social, physical and mental well-being for our youth.” The Friends partner with the Center to understand their needs and wants, and then create programs and events to help meet those needs.

Ongoing and Special Event Activities:

  • Sending birthday cards and special occasion cards to students and staff to let each recipient know they are valued and cherished.
  • Supporting trips  and events for the children.
  • Partnering for Holidays
  • Healthy snacks such as fruit snacks and vegie straws collections periodically.

Supporting and engaging children through the year:

It could be a talent show, a fall fair, a celebration, a birthday and/or a theatre trip.

Commiting to  serving the Youth of New Images Youth Center as needed:

In the fall, that may be school supplies, in the winter it may be warmer items of clothing and in the spring, snacks.

Next year, we look forward to the 2nd Annual Community Harvest Festival and Talent Show

Children from 1U and NIYC enjoyed games, face painting, potting lessons and crafts before lunch. The day was beautiful and youth, parents, volunteers, and staff from NIYC  enjoyed each other’s company while eating as Gore Hall prepared for the Talent Show which featured  more than 16 performances.
