The Alliance is an organization formed soon after our church was established in 1912.

We have three missions. One is to raise money, which we then give to local charities that practice UU values and serve women, children, and the homeless. Second is support and fellowship for our members. Third is programs and outings to educate and entertain ourselves.

We meet on Tuesdays in Gore Hall from 10:30am to 1:00pm, working in the shop, then eating bag lunches or potluck at noon while sharing conversation.

We raise money through events, but mostly it’s through our Resale Shop in the Gore Hall building, whose motto is “Good Deals, Good Deeds,” as well as at an annual Holiday Boutique. We welcome donations of gently used clothing, books, and other nice things for the shop. Some of the charities we give to are Planned Parenthood, Healthcare Center for the Homeless, and New Image Youth Center in the Parramore Community.

The Alliance welcomes members of 1U, the University Unitarian Universalist Society, and nonmembers — women and men.  For more information about donating to the shop and attending meetings, please email alliance@orlandouu.org.
