“Slowly, Holy, Wholly”

Rev. Joe Donatone

Our work as Unitarian Universalist congregations does not happen in a vacuum.  Thank goodness it doesn’t!  UUs find the answers to our deep questions both inside and outside our places of worship.  Our movement is in dialogue with the world, growing, changing, adapting to each new revelation.

The UN recently shared an updated report on global climate change, and the news is not good.  As we virtually gather together for another new church year, what meaning can we make of this continuing crisis?  How can our work beyond the church walls – our response to this crisis – inform the work of building community within?

Rev. Joe recently returned to Ohio to complete a chaplain residency and fellowship at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center.  His focus is on spirituality and complex emotional pain, including serious mental illness, suicidality, military sexual trauma, and PTSD.  Rev. Joe enjoys exploring the rich diversity, resilience, and hope found in Queer and Recovery Theologies and their relevance to this work. Rev. Joe holds a steadfast belief in three things: Universal Love, human resilience, and beloved community.
