Limited-Time or Semester Volunteers

JOY MCC Food Pantry Liaison needed!
Needed: person/s to liaison with Joy Metropolitan Community Church (Joy MCC) Food Pantry. This group/project is one of 1U’s Share the Plate recipients. The Food Pantry serves hundreds of families per month with food needs. Learn more at https://www.joymcc.com/food-bank. 1U has provided funds through Share the Plate, and food through special and ongoing collections. Having a regular liaison with Joy MCC Food Pantry staff would solidify our relationship and build opportunities to serve the community.

Tasks:

  • Be in contact with Joy MCC Food Pantry personnel to determine best ways 1U can support their
efforts. This could range from several times a year (Share the Plate and occasional food drives)
to more frequent interactions. Exploring options for in person volunteer opportunities might be
    considered.
  • Publicize Food Pantry needs to 1U through submissions to Weekly Update and Facebook, as appropriate. 1U Leadership Development Committee can assist with logistics on publicity
    options and details.
  • Monitor donation area in Gore Hall as items are brought in by congregants
  • Work with Amy Fairweather, 1U church administrator, to arrange for donations to be picked up by Joy MCC personnel.

Duration: start anytime, and serve at least through June 2023; could be longer if desired.
