January 2023

Coalition for the Homeless 

Transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children by providing crucial services to end their crisis of homelessness is the Coalition’s mission. Through the support of our community, the Coalition has been able to evolve and adapt to the changing needs – and the changing faces – of the homeless for over three decades.

Canine Companions 

Canine Companions is a national organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained service dogs at no charge to the recipient. Since our founding in 1975, Canine Companions has provided over 7,300 service dogs to people with disabilities.

Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW)

CIW is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in fighting human trafficking and gender-based violence at work. The CIW is also recognized for pioneering the design of a worker-led, market-enforced approach to the protection of human rights in corporate supply chains.

Adult Literacy League

Adult Literacy empowers Central Floridians to be thriving members of our community through literacy and education.

May 2023

New Image Youth Center   

NIYC’s mission is to provide a safe place to dream that fosters academic, social, physical, and mental well-being for our youth. Friends of the New Image Youth Center Team coordinates projects with NIYC. 

June 2023

IDignity

IDignity assists in obtaining Florida ID cards and licenses, birth certificates, Social Security cards, and other documents needed to obtain an ID/license.

July 2023

Joy MCC Food Pantry 

Joy MCC is a neighboring church. 1U members donate food and other items as requested by the MCC Pantry. Information about daily needs can be found here.

Harbor House

The Center provides safe shelter, a 24-hour confidential crisis hotline, counseling, emotional support, and legal advocacy for survivors of domestic abuse and their children.

Ten Thousand Villages 

The mission of Ten Thousand Villages is to create opportunities for artisans in under-resourced communities to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.

Zebra Youth 

Zebra Coalition® is a network of organizations that provide services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and all youth (LGBTQ+) ages 13 – 24.

Planned Parenthood of SW & CFL

Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida  provides affordable access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care and accurate health information through patient care, education, and advocacy.

December 2023

Shepherd’s Hope

Shepherd’s Hope is a non-profit organization of primarily volunteers that exist to provide access to healthcare for uninsured patients. They are caring people, caring for people. For 25 years, Shepherd’s Hope has given assistance through their evening clinics around the Orlando area to anyone in need.  With more than 2,700 volunteers, including doctors, nurses, PAs, clerical staff, and other willing helpers, literally thousands of patient visits are provided each year at no cost for the patient at all.

 

 

Every 5th Sunday throughout the year BLUU receives all that is collected on Sunday. 

Our 5th Sunday in July Share the Plate Partner Is BLUU (Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism)
BLUU is committed to expanding the power and capacity of Black UUs within Unitarian Universalism; providing support, information, and resources for Black Unitarian Universalists; and justice-making and liberation for Black people through our faith. For more info, click here.
