Ken L hosts a monthly Wednesday night series of brief presentations and discussions on 19th century Transcendentalists – their lives, writings, anecdotes about them, and reflections from class participants.

The Transcendentalists (mostly Unitarians), who brought new ideas to literature, religion, education, and social reform, included (among others) Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, and Theodore Parker.

For November, we will explore some definitions of Transcendentalism, take a look at some of the leading Transcendentalists, and determine how this year’s discussion series will be organized.

Discussion Group meeting dates: November 6, December 4, January 8, February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, and June 4. All meetings are from 6:45 to 8:15pm in the Gathering Space.
