Meditation Group

Meditation Group

"Meditation Group" is affinity group affiliated with First Unitarian through the Adult RE Program.

On Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 a meditation group meets in the Gore Hall. The focus is on Vipassana (Insight) Meditation in the Buddhist tradition. The format consists of a brief check in, a period of meditation, a reading, and a discussion. For those unfamiliar with meditation practice, brief instructions are provided. The group is open to beginners, experienced meditators, and all others who are interested. This is an open group, so there is no need to register. Just show up.

Mornings of Meditation

From time to time, we offer a morning of meditation. The morning consists of sitting and walking meditation as well as some discussion. This is a great opportunity to get a small taste of sustained meditation practice. This program is offered on a donation basis. Check this site's calendar for upcoming dates and further details.

Day of Meditation and Yoga

About every three months we offer a day of group meditation and yoga. There is sitting and walking meditation, gentle yoga (which anyone can do), and some group discussion. This is a great opportunity to get a small taste of sustained meditation practice with the complementary element of yoga. A vegetarian lunch is provided. This program is offered on a donation basis.

This program is open to those who have participated in one of our other Saturday meditation/yoga events, who have attended a meditation retreat elsewhere, or who have been attending a meditation group regularly for at least three months.
