Membership - Fellowship Committee

Interested in becoming a Church member? Guest or church member wanting to meet new people? You want the Membership-Fellowship Committee to help you find your way!

The current Membership-Fellowship Co-chairs are Marty Haddad and Dayle Steakley.

 MISSION

The mission of the "Membership-Fellowship Committee" is to encourage and nurture a loving community in which all are engaged in growing their spirits, forming relationships, and sharing their time, talents and treasures with the church and the world.

WHAT WE DO

The Membership-Fellowship Committee shares its good news, upcoming events, and items of interest in the church newsletter, the order of service, eblast, and more.

Every Sunday the Chairs and committee members work before and after the service welcoming guests and introducing them to the Minister, church leaders and members. This is our most frequent job.

Orientation & Membership Classes

One Sunday a month the Co-chairs and committee members assist the Minister to present an hour-long Orientation after the service. (This one time class is for guests who want to learn a bit more about our Church. )

Each quarter the Co-chairs and committee members facilitate a New Member series called "The Path to Membership."  It consists of a weekend workshop, a New Member Potluck, a New Member Reception and Ceremony. (This series of classes and events is for those who have been visiting us for a while and are ready to become full church members.)

More Activities

The committee also hosts a quarterly Salad Sunday and occasional Game Nights.

A member of the committee coordinates Greeters.

A member of the committee coordinates Sunday Social Hour volunteers.

A member of the committee coordinates the Circle Dinner Program.

Our committee also periodically calls meetings of a task force that we convened to help us use story telling to build and strengthen connections. (“Once Upon a UU Story”)

OTHER INFO

We are also affiliated with several affinity groups that have a strong "fellowship" component but are organized by others:

MEETINGS

Meetings are as needed. When we do have a meeting, we announce it by email, and between meetings we organize by email.

HOW TO JOIN

Although we believe that EVERY member of the congregation serves on the Membership-Fellowship Committee, those who wish to join the committee are encouraged to contact one of the Co-chairs to volunteer.

Representatives of the Membership-Fellowship Committee are also vailable every Sunday at the Greeter desk in the sanctuary and the Visitor table in Gore Hall.
