Greeters

Greeters

"Greeters" are a part of the larger Membership-Fellowship Committee. Our 2010-2011 Greeter Coordinator is Bev Alig.

WHAT WE DO

Greeters are the first face of First Unitarian.  We're the ones who welcome everyone through the doors in Gore Hall foyer or the church foyer.  Our goal is to make sure every newcomer, visitor, guest is welcomed, their questions answered and we make sure they have information about the church.

We gather information about visitors to make sure we can keep them current on the activities of the church.  Oracles are sent to visitors for a couple of months, e-blasts are sent and follow-up contact is made.  We also man the membership table during social hour and have information about the latest guest orientation and path to membership classes.

Our greeting schedule is based on monthly duties.  People are assigned to the first, second, etc. Sunday of each month.  We also keep a list of substitutes who are ready and willing to step in as needed.  We have periodic training sessions for new greeter volunteers.  We also have sheets for greeters to read - job description, suggestions for conversations, a sermon by Peter Morales about radical hospitality, etc.

You will be well-trained and supported during your time on the Greeter Team!
