The Web Team is a Support Services group at First Unitarian.  It is responsible for the Church Website and Internet related tasks.

MISSION & PHILOSOPHY

Our mission is to support the various Church committees, groups, and projects in their work by providing them with an online prescence within the larger framework of the First Unitarian Church of Orlando website umbrella.

Our general philosophy is that the First Unitarian Church of Orlando's website is both the online info place for our Beloved Community and a reflection of the diverse people you will find here. 

Each section is a peek into the world of the happy UU people there.  While the Web Team coordinates the submitted info and places it in the right area,  we try to preserve the distinct flavor and personalities of our groups through their own words and pictures. 

 The website belongs to all us and is a real community effort! 

 WHAT WE DO

Web Team provide the web support! We receive the information from other folks, format or edit where needed, and relay it back out through the appropriate channels:

  • The  "web pages" or "sections" belonging to each of the Program Committees, Support Services Groups, Affinity Groups, projects, etc
  • Online calendar listings
  • Listings in the weekly announcements mailing list (The E-blast)
  • Listings at First Unitarian's Facebook page
  • At various times during the year we host "mini classes" of about 30 min in length in the Library after Church on a specific web topic. (ex: How do I submit an article? How do I do a calendar listing?)

WHO WE ARE

We maintain and make small improvements to the current website in the meanwhile.

MEETINGS AND JOINING

We have no regular monthly meetings.  They are on "as needed basis" only. We mainly communicate over email or phone. We try to meet socially once a semester just for fun and to get to know our Web Team peers.  

This is a good group for

  • those who are Internet curious and want to learn new skills
  • those who like to write or take pictures
  • those who like to edit copy or edit pictures
  • those who have movie or sound making / edit skills
  • those who are Internet savvy and want to offer other talents
  • those who want to volunteer from home in their own time because they are shy, have crazy work schedules, or live far away
  • those who want to be "on call" for special assignment to little "bite size" jobs
