Volunteer at Food Bank Second Harvest Food Banks supply food and non-food items to numerous food banks all around the Central Florida area. Local congregations, schools and clubs collect food to donate, along with business in the area. All that needs to be sorted in order to get it where it can be best used. This requires many busy volunteers. We at First Unitarian work hard sorting and packing these foods to be sure that these items can be used by the many needy in our area. WHEN If you would like to mark your calendars, the dates and times for 2013 are:

You need JavaScript enabled to view it regarding this issue ahead of time, please. RSVP From now on, we are expected to have 15 volunteers each time! Second Harvest is requiring us to register ahead of time and we can bring more than 15, if we are so fortunate. They count on us for the workload they are now carrying--far greater than before. Therefore, we ask you to go to their site and register for the date you will be working (we are at Second Harvest from 1pm-4pm of every even numbered month). To sign up for 1U's already reserved slot on Volunteer Hub (Second Harvest's new on-line scheduling system), please follow the directions below. Step by step sign up: We know things sometimes happen last minute and you can't make it after saying you could, or you think you can't come and suddenly have the time to attend, which is not a problem. That is all very understandable, but assuring them we have at least 15 volunteers helps them greatly! Just remember, each time you know you are planning to come, you must sign up for the date and shift directly. Remember: You will have to register as a volunteer on their website and when prompted use the code: A100. You do not have to be a church member to help out with this rewarding project! Questions?
