Every Sunday members of the Membership Committee are on hand to greet you and welcome you to First Unitarian before the service and afterwards at Social Hour. You can look for the "Visitor Welcome Table" to ask questions and get more general info about us. If you feel like First Unitarian may be the right fit for you, the Membership Committee also sponsors two special workshops.
Are you a guest who is still learning? One Sunday a month committee members assist the Minister to present an hour-long Orientation after the service. This one time workshop is for guests who want to learn a bit more about our Church in a deeper way. The date of the next Orientation can be found below. Are you taking the leap? Each quarter committee members facilitate a New Member series called "The Journey to Membership." It consists of a weekend workshop, a New Member Potluck, a New Member Reception and Ceremony. This series of events is for those who have been visiting us for a while and are ready to become full church members! Next session is March 15 & 16 - "Spring Journey to Membership Workshop." Fall New Member Series Are you interested in becoming a member of our church? If so, we invite you to attend our fall "Journey to Membership" workshop. In this weekend workshop we'll tell you about the history, philosophy, and practices of Unitarian Universalism, and church leaders will also share information about our congregation. The dates of the series are: - Friday Sept. 24, from 7:00 to 9:00pm in the Hiett Library
- Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9:00am until noon in the Hiett Library
- Friday, Oct. 22 from 7:00 to 9:00pm (New Member Potluck) in Gore Hall
Those who complete the series and decide to join will sign the Membership book during the service on Sunday, Nov. 7th. To register for an Orientation or the Fall New Member Series, please sign up at the Guest table in Gore Hall any Sunday after the service, or register by email at
