We are pleased to announce the hiring of a new Choir Director for First Unitarian!
Aubrey Connelly comes to us with a passion for choral music and a vision of people making music together. He is very personable and has strong leadership skills. Aubrey holds a Bachelor of Music from Rollins College and brings diverse musical interests, experiences, and skills. Aubrey has taught chorus, piano, and other music programs at the high school level. He has been involved in many community programs including serving as the conductor and director of the Orlando Gay Chorus. Of particular interest, he was the Music Director here at First Unitarian from 1997 to 1999. His combination of good energy, flexibility, and musical excellence is a wonderful fit for 1U.

First Unitarian Church of Orlando is seeking a quarter-time Choir Director. The primary focus of the position will be to direct the Chalice Choir, which is one of several vocal groups. The group rehearses one evening a week (currently Wednesday 7:00-8:30 pm). The Choir Director also may rehearse special ensembles or children’s choirs as arranged with the Music Director. The position reports to the Music Director and is supported by a paid Accompanist. Repertoire has included sacred and secular music of various styles, cultures, and religious perspectives. The church has a large music archive. From mid-September through late-May, there are two worship services each Sunday (expected to be a 9:30 am and 11:00 am for the 2012-2013 program year). During the summer months, there is a single worship service each Sunday (at 10:45 am for summer 2012).

Hello friends of music and fellow sojourners of the 1U experience. The first quarter of 2012 has been rich with musical moments and messages of meaning. I'd like to thank the many of you that made the February 1U Centennial Celebration and the Florida District (statewide) Choral Festival possible. To you who enjoyed the music; you are the reason we do all this. Our goal is to enrich your experience at our church and bring depth and Art into your time on campus. |

Requirements: A degree in Piano and/or Music or comparable experience, and training and experience sufficient to carry out the duties listed below.
Responsibilities (Average 8 hours per week, Mid-August to Mid-June):
Provide piano or keyboard music for the two Sunday services mid-August through mid-June.
