Sweet Open House 4:00-6:00pm, Rescue Mission

Orlando Rescue Mission has a new cupcake business where the bakers are the homeless and unemployed. High-end cupcakes sell for $30-$33 a dozen. The first 10 dozen cupcakes are free. Campus Tenders Volunteer Workday 9:00am, UU Parking Lot

Ronald Vierling Book Reading & Signing – 1:00pm, Dare Bookstore

Ronald Vierling will be the featured writer at at Dare Books, 245 North US 17-92. He will discuss his CLEMENTINE CAMILLE trilogy of novels. A portion of the sales price of any of Ronald’s books purchased by First Unitarian members at Dare Books will be returned to the 1U Church bookstore to help support the its efforts in bringing relevant literary works to the 1U community.

We will resume regular Children's Religious Education Classes after Labor Day. Have a safe and wonderful summer. Childcare during Worship and Nursery care will continue to be provided through summer.

"Earn Sick Leave" Petition Drive

Carmen Balasquide, a field community organizer with Organize Now, will be at the church before and after the service to provide an opportunity for members to sign a petition to get the Earn Sick Leave measure on the November ballot. Look for her in Gore Hall.

 

Nora Staton Bookstore Open

The Nora Staton Bookstore, purveyor of UU-related books published by Beacon Press and Skinner House, will be open in Gore Hall after worship. Cash and checks are accepted; sorry, no credit cards. 250 bologna-and-cheese sandwiches for the Homeless Coalition are put together in record time! The Gore Hall kitchen is the place where the action happens. Work continues on the Bazaar too. Alliance Membership: Thank you for renewing and joining the Alliance. And it is never too late. We are 83 members strong. Our match over the$10 dues is $1500. Yea!!

An organizational meeting will be held at noon in Gore Hall. A platter of sandwiches from Subway and chips will be provided. This group is open to all men – retired or not – who are interested in meeting on a regular basis. The group will meet to discuss its purpose and activities and decide on a regular meeting day, time and place. Plan Ahead

July 27 Community Sing/Karaoke at 1U, 7:00pm, Gore Hall

Come perform and enjoy tunes from the 20s to 2012! When it's your turn, you pick the song and the singer(s) and we'll make sure you and everyone have a great musical experience. Doors open to a "Try New Stuff" time from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.  Experienced singers go onstage from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $4. If you have CDGs of your own, bring them.
