1U Centennial Homecoming Weekend Announcements


All current and former members and friends of First Unitarian Church of Orlando (1U) are invited to join in a celebration our 100-year anniversary with an exciting Centennial “Homecoming Weekend” of activities.

Friday, 2/17/12, 7pm :
Hamarama IV in the Sanctuary – a popular 1U tradition!  Feel free to come even if you did not RSVP!
 A talent (?) show with performances by 1U members and friends - a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants (thanks, Chuckles the Clown!)  - see Ann Cook or Julie Sullivan for information
Saturday, 2/18/12, 10am:

100th Anniversary Pilgrimage Walk - the Pilgrimage Walk shares the interesting history of the church in the context of Orlando's history as participants visit important sites on a leisurely 2.5 mile walk through downtown Orlando - participants should gather in the 1U parking lot by 10am to carpool to the Walk's starting point – coordinators: Tom Cook, Ross Payne & Bob Leger
 
Saturday, 2/18/12, 6pm Dinner, 8 pm Concert

Homecoming Anniversary Dinner and Entertainment – a delicious catered dinner in Gore Hall followed by reminiscences and special entertainment by the Tuesday Nite Band in the Sanctuary. Feel free to come to the concert even if you did not RSVP for dinner! Children are welcome but childcare will also be available – see Geoffrey Stewart, Kim Bowles or Ridge Holdridge for information

Sunday Worship Services – Join us for one or both of our Sunday morning services, with Rev. Kathy Schmitz, as our Beloved Community gathers to worship together.

Children’s Homecoming Parade – the children and yUUth put on a fun and energetic parade following our 2nd Sunday service – come to cheer them on! – there will be children’s activities and a dance in the RE courtyard following the parade - see Clara Shine or Toni Dockery for information

Stewardship Celebration Luncheon – our Stewardship Committee hosts a complimentary luncheon to cap off our anniversary festivities and to celebrate the hundreds of reasons we support this Beloved Community financially -  this is the main event of our 2012 Stewardship Campaign – see Sandy Pollock or Christine Haskins for information
