Guidelines for Social Hour Setup and Cleanup Families, groups of friends, church committees -- everyone is invited to take a turn to help provide the fellowship fun after the service by "hosting" or simply bringing in labeled snacks to the kitchen to share on any Sunday. Are you ready to host? Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to sign up for a date. Here is how to do it... WHAT TO DO Before church set up food tables with plastic cloths (optional) and tip jar. Fill water pitchers with ice, then water when ready to serve. Set up coffee cart with cups, sweeteners and creamer, one mug, spoons in a relish dish, and an empty relish dish for trash. Set out food (preferably covered with a napkin). Make coffee (see instructions and recipe below). Go to church. A few minutes before church is over set out water and coffee cart. During coffee hour, keep an eye on the water pitchers and refill as needed. After coffee hour, clear and wipe all tables, cart, and kitchen surfaces. Clean coffee maker (per Cat, grounds can be sprinkled around the church plantings). Wash, dry and put away pitchers, any dishes, returning unused supplies. Find a home for leftovers. WHEN TO DO IT Recommended start time 10:00-10:15 to give you time to get to services. Coffee should be plugged in before church. Depart church a few minutes early to roll out coffee and water, and for finishing touches. There is flexibility as to when you want to start cleanup so that you can finish and leave, depending on your schedule. WHERE THINGS ARE Most supplies and tip jar are in the gray cabinet near the kitchen back door. The coffee maker is on the counter to the left of the big sinks, and coffee is in the freezer in black bags in the box marked" coffee hour" (no decaf at this time). The ice maker is to right of fridge. Table cloths are in the narrow drawers behind the main kitchen door. Cabinets and drawers are marked for dishes and utensils. Pitchers are in the lower cabinet to the left of the big sinks. If you also want tea, make hot water in the electric kettle kept near the coffee pot. The tea bags are in the coffee hour cabinet. COFFEE: BEAUTIFUL NEW 100-CUP COFFEE MAKER PROVIDED BY GENEROUS SECRET DONOR! Fill maker with cold water to 60 cup level on port and add 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 8 oz cups ground coffee to basket (depending on your taste). Place basket in maker, lock lid on and plug in before church (1 minute per cup brewing time). After church, put coffee on loaded cart (for safety) and wheel to coffee location by windows (no need to keep plugged in during coffee hour). TIP JAR Just put the jar out with the yummies. Someone from the Board will collect the tip jar money at the end. QUESTIONS? THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE AROUND ON SUNDAYS WHO CAN ANSWER THEM.
