Children's RE - Jul 2010

Children's Religious Education (CRE) - July 2010

Greetings to Members and Friends of First Unitarian: What a wonderful year we had in 1U Children's Religious Education (CRE). Our kids worked on many great projects, learned a lot and grew closer to the church and each other. We capped it off with a great CRE Service. Thank you to the many folks who helped with that service including our sound technicians, Paul Burdette and Tim Wiley. Thanks also to Music Director, Jamie Sterrett, and the Tuesday Night Band.

Now it is summer, a time to plan for an even more exciting year next year. Our OWL (Our Whole Lives) Task Force has put together a plan that will give all our children and youth who missed OWL this past year a chance to catch up. If you are interested in more information about OWL, you can learn more at www.uua.org/religiouseducation/curricula/ourwhole/

Parents, if you are interested in enrolling your child or youth in OWL next year, please mark the following dates and times on your calendar:

August 29, OWL Overview 9:30-10:30am in Gore Hall: a general informational session for all sections of OWL led by 1U OWL teachers. You will have the opportunity to look at the books and some of the other resources used in the different classes and ask questions from experienced OWL teachers.

September 11, In-Depth Orientations in Gore Hall:

  • 4:00-5:30pm Elementary OWL (Parents and children participate)
  • 6:00-7:00pm Potluck Dinner for all
  • 7:00-9:00pm Middle School Orientation (Parents only)

Activities for children and youth will be provided during both orientations.

Beginning in August, we will have a table set up in Gore Hall with information about our 2010-2011 Children's Religious Education (CRE) Year. We will also have registration packets available at that time.
