Living the 7th: Green Team in October

Here’s all the good, green stuff in October!

Oct 5: “Pagan Eco-Living” by Kym Gers. (First Sundays through December in Room 9, 9:30am)
Today’s topic is “the kitchen” and cooking. Please bring your cookbooks, recipes, and other items to share in class.

Oct 11: Ancestor’s Feast 6:00pm. Green Team & Mystic Grove host an Ancestor’s Feast! Bring a photo or memento of your beloved ancestor and bring them out to dine Samhain style as we explore eco-spirituality and ethical eating in a feast setting! $3 kids 12 and under/ $7 adults to recover groceries. All welcome! Pay in advance in coffee hours to reserve seat.

Oct 12: Adult RE: “Menu for the Future” by Cat Rigby. (2nd Sundays in Library, 9:30am)
Movie: Post Punk Kitchen episode (for Veg awareness month with an election twist). Chapter 1 discussion begins. Oct 18: Green Saturday! Meet, Eat, Seat! Once a month in Gore Hall and the Hiett Library, the Green Team brings you the meet, the eat, and the take a seat! Come for it all or the bits you like best:

  • 5:00pm Green Team meeting. Guests welcome to attend! Green Sanctuary planning and other eco-justice projects/issues.

  • 6:00pm Eco-Living Support Potluck. The “Green” Covenant Group! Bring a dish and share ideas, support, and food as we all try to green up our homes and lives. Can’t cook? Bring a donation to keep us in extra yummies. This month we discuss “Flooring and Carpets” in your home.

  • 7:00pm Earth Cinema selection this month is:

    • “Power Shift” (26 min)  From eco-friendly building designs to alternative power supplies and upgrading our appliances, this film shows us a path towards a brighter, cleaner, healthier planet for ourselves and for future generations.

    • “Ladies of the Land” (30 min) At a time when many small family farms are closing down and being replaced by huge corporate farms, women are joining the ranks of the small family farmers at an incredible rate. Ladies of the Land introduces us to four very different farmers, each forging her way in a homegrown effort to reclaim our land, our food and our communities.

Oct 19: The 4th Annual “Veggie Friendly” Coffee Hour! (See Coffee Hour article.)

Oct 26: Social Concerns meeting at University Unitarian Universalist Society (UUUS) after their service at 10:30am. Cat’s off to rep Green Team from FUCO. Others are welcome to tag along as we start to form the “green alliance!”
