Covenant Group Corner: “Pondering”

I just returned from a week at the beach in Ferry Beach, Maine. OK— I imagine you are combining beach, Maine, and summer and thinking that I was on vacation. In actuality, I was busy taking a class given by Meadville Lombard Theological School on the History of Spiritual Practices of Unitarian Universalists.

Really, it was quite an intensive learning environment in a classroom. But I was determined to get to the beach! So I would wake up early in the morning, I would go for a walk on the beach, look out to the horizon, and just ponder. Do you ponder? Would you like to share your ponderings with others? Would you like to hear what others are pondering about? Come join a covenant group and ponder together with others within our community. We have groups meeting on Monday nights, Wednesday nights, Sunday nights, and Wednesday afternoons.

Drop in Group

The Fourth Principle of Unitarian Universalism states that we affirm and promote “a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” What do you think and feel when you hear the words “truth and meaning?” Do we search only for the sake of searching, or are we truly hoping to find something? What is meant by a “responsible search?”

If you are interested in discussing this topic and/or if you wish to just experience a covenant group before you commit to joining one for year, please stop by Room 9 of the religious education complex on Wednesday, October 8th, from 7:00 to 9:00pm. I look forward to seeing you!!

Mini Covenant

On Sunday, October 5th, from 9:30 to 10:30am, please join covenant groups in the Sharon Lee Hiett Library and share a mini covenant group experience. We will take a short time to explain a bit about covenant groups and then, as a group, will share our thoughts on a topic. I hope to see you there.
