Orders of Service for June 2008 What's in store for June?
June 1 | Religious Education Sunday Please join us for the Annual Religious Education Service, which will be led by the youth and children of First Unitarian Church of Orlando. We will honor the many volunteers in our congregation who dedicate their time to teaching and guiding the minds and hearts of today’s children and tomorrow’s leaders. This year the service will be led by the High School and Middle School RE Youth Group, and the RE Children’s Choir will provide inspirational music for the service. June 8 | “Old Growth: A Survivor’s Testimony” My last Sunday with my best Beloved Community …. I’ll share some thoughts; we’ll speak some covenantal words; we’ll celebrate and we’ll bless. Our District Executive, Rev. Kenn Hurto, will be with us. June 15 | “Fathers and Children” I will explore the dramatically changing roles and images of fatherhood in our families, parenting and American culture, and how we are or can adapt to those changes. Jay Wolin will lead this service. Chalice Lighting, Curtis Michelson June 22 | “MidSummer Solstice” Our 7th Principle calls us to honor the interdependent web of existence. Join our Religious Education leaders and children in a joyous earth-based Summer Solstice celebration. For some time now, our denomination has been working to become more multicultural. Inasmuch as stories define a culture, the sharing of stories between cultures can foster understanding and draw us together in common cause. Let’s explore the role storytelling can play in our own journey toward multiculturalism. |
