Worship Services - May 2008
Worship services are held at 10:45am on Sundays. Unless otherwise noted, all services are led by our minister, the Rev. Dr. Marni Harmony. All are welcome! The Worship Service topics for May are as follows:
May 4 | The Transient and Permanent in Unitarian Universalism Taking off from Theodore Parker’s famous sermon by a similar name, I’ll share with you what I consider most lasting and important and eternal about this wonderful faith we share. Sacred Text: Nancy Kellman May 11 | Holding On and Holding Up A sermon in honor of our mothers as well as Julia Ward Howe, the founding mother of what we celebrate as “Mother’s Day.” Our celebration will include a dedication ceremony for the newest little UU babies. Sacred Text: Michelle Stephan Share-the-Plate: BETA Center May 18 | Wheel of Life As I think about my own journey of stepping off this wheel we have shared for two decades, I’d like to share passages with you from some of my favorite sermons over the years. (A little different than our usual Wheel of Life service …) Annual Congregational Meeting follows. May 25 | Memorial Day Service Memorial Day will be commemorated with a candle ceremony in honor of local deceased soldiers from the current war and the deceased soldiers of past wars. Several readings will be shared, including poetry and letters home from war. This service will be led by Russ Hiett and Gladys Smith-Mangan |
