![]() Black Cat Cafe Coffeehouse Are you a performer? Bard, troubador, musician, singer, poet, actor, dancer, comedian, highly skilled fool? Join us at the Black Cat Cafe for a positive experience on stage! First Unitarian Church of Orlando. With fourteen years and still going strong, Black Cat is currently led by Chip Dockery. He and the other “Black Catters” open the Gore Hall doors on the 2nd Friday of each month from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM. It is an Orlando tradition dating back to one fateful "Friday the 13th" in May of 1994. Because we hold it on the Second Friday, some of the time it falls on a Friday the 13th. We like that, and that's how it got its name! Admission is just $2 and you get to kick back, relax, and enjoy plenty of local talent!
It is a open-mic coffee house! That means if you show up and ask us, you can get up on stage and sing, dance, play music, read a monologue, or poetry or whatever! We have a very supportive audience that likes first-time performers. So if you’ve wanted to try to do something on stage, but were afraid to do so, this is the place to do it! Plus, we have a reputation for having some of the best local professional acts dropping in now and again to try out new material. You are welcome to drop by and add your name to the performance list. You get 3 songs or a 15 min set.
The snack bar includes domestic and imported beers, wine, water, soft drinks, coffee, pizza by the slice, brownies, and other goodies. Please contact Chip Dockery if you are interested in becoming a “Black Catter” and helping out behind the scenes to put on the monthly open mic. See you there!
